EDL's minidisc audio recovery service is used by professional broadcasters and consumers worldwide. It is also widely used for forensic analysis of both audio and data minidiscs by legal and law enforcement agencies. This valuable service provides for the recovery and repair of audio from erased, damaged, badly manufactured or improperly recorded minidiscs. We have developed specialist minidisc recovery software. This performs much more than create a single track in the TOC (table of contents) that spans the entire disc. We actually scan the whole recorded surface of the disc and rebuild a table of contents (TOC) from each block of contiguous ATRAC audio data revealed.
If the audio is unreadable on the disc, whether this is due to a UTOC error or even on a badly manufactured disc, we have the technology to recover it. Where possible we will try to restore the audio back to the original minidisc. However, if the disc is damaged we will restore the recovered audio to a CD. For very urgent cases we can send the recovered audio to our client via the internet. What now ? It is most important on discovering that your audio cannot be retrieved from the minidisc that no further recording is attempted as this is likely to severely decrease the chance of fully recovering lost data since the original audio may be overwritten. The effort required in a minidisc repair and recovery operation can vary considerably so we require that the defective discs be mailed to us for an initial evaluation. Above is a link to a form that can be downloaded (right click 'save target as'), printed and submitted together with your minidisc. This is a checklist that assists us in the recovery of your minidisc. After downloading it can be completed on-screen, using the mouse or tab key, or handwritten.
