Multi-Axis Digitiser Advanced CAD & VR Interface

MAX is a advanced stylus and tablet which will digitise 6 independent stylus axes over the tablet surface. In addition to (x,y) position, MAX will output the tilt from the perpendicular in X and Y axes, the rotation of the stylus barrel and the pressure applied to the nib. The MAX expansion port connects to a track-ball and a unique variable pressure sensing foot-pedal to create a comprehensive user interface device with up to 9 parallel controls.

The output is updated at up to 200 samples per second at high resolution and above all it is absolute making MAX extremely intuitive and accurate for desktop VR applications. Natural hand gestures using the stylus are directly related to the output from MAX. All data is packed in an efficient 15 byte binary packet and may be interpreted by the host to control virtual tools, robot movements, cutter paths or unique and subtle brush patterns. Looking like a straightforward graphics tablet, MAX can offer much more system functionality than a mouse and is more flexible than a force ball. In a desktop environment it allows the range of a 3D tracker without the need to operate in the Z axis. MAX is available now from EDL and is the ideal interface for systems requiring something more than a mouse in a practical desktop unit.
